Who participated?

The 13th Glockner Man has three different competetions:
ULTRA BICYCLE MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP for individual riders on the classic respectively ultra route
ULTRA BICYCLE MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP for teams of 2 or 4 on the classic respectively ultra route
GLOCKNERMAN CLASSIC for megateams of maximum 12 starters per team

individual competition There are 2 routes according to the age groups for the 6 .Ultramarathon Bicycle World Championship. The GLOCKNERMAN ULTRA route with a distance of 1015km and an altitude differnce of 15.743 meters for the age groups -30,30+ and 40+ and the GLOCKNERMAN CLASSIC route with a distance of 836 km and an altitude difference of 12.012 meter for the age groups 50+,60+ and for the womens competion
We are happy to accept competitors under the age of 50 who want to take part in the GLOCKNERMAN CLASSIC. They wil not be placed in the world championship and will receive no prize money. The following World Champioship titels can be won::

team competition In the team the birth date of the youngest team member will be used for the age group classification Bei der Team-Weltmeisterschaft gibt es Damen- und Herren-Titel.
The following world championship titles will be awarded:
Women under 50 WORLD CHAMPION team of 2 CLASSIC ROUTE WORLD CHAMPION team of 4 CLASSIC ROUTE
Women over 50 WORLD CHAMPION team of 2 CLASSIC ROUTE WORLD CHAMPION team of 4 CLASSIC ROUTE
Men under 50 WORLD CHAMPION team of 2 ULTRA ROUTE WORLD CHAMPION team of 4 ULTRA ROUTE
Men over 50 WORLD CHAMPION team of 2 ULTRA ROUTE WORLD CHAMPION team of 4 ULTRA ROUTE
Mixed teams can compete out of competition ad libitum on the classic respectively ultra route of the glocknerman |
Entry fees Individual rider: 400 € until 30.4.2010
Team of 2: 600 € until 30.4.2010
Team of 4: 1000 € until 30.4.2010
Megat teams: Team leader 400 € each further rider 200 € until 30.4.2010 e.g.: 6 starters = 400+(5x200) =1400 €
Post entries for all competitions until 28.5.2010. Entry fees increase by 10%
Each competitor, who has successfully finished the Glocknerman 5 times is excempt from paying entry fees at the next start. |
support The GLOCKNER MAN is an Utra Bicycle Marathon for individuals, where each competitors has his own coach and private vehicle. The organisers neither provide accompanying vehicles nor food stations during the race. Due to the length of the race (course record: 36:23 hours) the team has to consist of at least 2 people (better 4 people taking turns driving the car every 8-12 hours). In the team competition one member must always be on route. The change overs can be chosen freely but they must coordinate with the checkpoint throughfare. A change over inbetween the check point throughfares is not possible! |
In the village WINKLERN at km 314, rooms for the accompanying teams, can be ordered in the Gasthof Hasslacher (+434822248, hasslacher at direkt dot at, www.tiscover.at/hasslacher ).Winklern the central location for the Glocknerman, is ideal place for training in preparation for the competition, |
Records
The fastest rider so far on the ultra route was Christoph Strasser from Austria with the time of 36 hours and 19 minutes in 2007.The fastest rider on the classic route was Johann Eisenbraum from Austria in 33 hours and 25 minutes.The fastest women was Tanja Hacker from Austria in 46 hours and 32 minutes.so far11 different nations (Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Czech Republic. Slowakia, Denmark,Belgium, USA, France) have participated in this event. |
prize money distribution So that the prize money can be paid out completely at least 30 competitors must take part in the individual event and 5 teams in the team event. By less competiors the prize money wild be paid out proportionally to the number of individual competitors respectively teams! Every finisher will receive a finisher shirt and the desired Glocknerman Trophy. |
